Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Networking (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Bellevue, WA, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week

Base pay range: $196,000–$230,000 USD per year, plus bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead technical strategy and execution for platform networking, traffic management, and service-to-service communication across multi-tenant and multi-cluster EKS environments.
• Design and operate resilient Istio service mesh topologies, including mTLS, traffic policies, ingress and egress, rate limiting, observability, and Envoy-based extensions.
• Define platform standards for HTTP/REST and gRPC APIs, including versioning, contract governance, performance, and SLO baselines.
• Build automation, tooling, and developer paved roads in Python and Go.
• Create Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code modules, pipelines, and guardrails for secure and auditable infrastructure changes.
• Partner with security, networking, and application teams while driving roadmaps, mentoring engineers, and de-risking complex projects.

Requirements

• Experience with AWS networking fundamentals, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, load balancers, PrivateLink, NAT, and DNS.
• Strong Kubernetes and Amazon EKS operations experience at scale, including cluster lifecycle, node pools, autoscaling, admission control, and CRDs.
• Strong understanding of HTTP/REST, gRPC, Istio service mesh, performance, reliability, and backward compatibility.
• Advanced troubleshooting across L3–L7, including packet analysis, Envoy/Istio telemetry, DNS, TLS/mTLS, and routing policies.
• Strong Python, Go, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code skills.
• Strong leadership skills for end-to-end project planning, execution, stakeholder alignment, and communication.
