Cloud Engineer (AWS)

Location: Chicago, United States

Annual base salary: $175,000–$250,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and relevant skills. Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Design, build, manage, and evolve multi-cloud and hybrid infrastructure across AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP, Alibaba Cloud, Snowflake, private infrastructure, and on-premises dependencies.
• Design and maintain cloud foundations covering account and project organization, identity federation, workload identity, policy guardrails, logging, tagging, and shared services.
• Own complex production and cloud infrastructure incidents, lead root cause analysis, and deliver durable reliability, security, and performance improvements.
• Build automation, standards, reference architectures, and documentation using infrastructure as code and related engineering practices.
• Engineer resilient connectivity between cloud providers and on-premises environments, while improving observability through metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and capacity dashboards.
• Advise technical stakeholders on architecture, cloud costs, capacity planning, FinOps, security, and efficiency, and evaluate new cloud capabilities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience engineering and administering production cloud environments in multi-cloud and hybrid settings, with strong AWS experience and exposure to Azure, GCP, Alibaba Cloud, or Snowflake.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and automation, including Terraform, Python, APIs/SDKs, CI/CD, and Git.
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking, including VPCs, routing, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, private connectivity, and interconnect providers.
• Working knowledge of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, encryption and key management, secrets management, and least-privilege design.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, alerting, production troubleshooting, cloud cost optimization, capacity planning, and FinOps.
• Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation supporting production cloud environments.

• Previous experience in financial services or trading environments.
