Telecom Engineer II - Wireless Core

Location: United States; worksite in Anchorage, Alaska. Remote eligible, with occasional travel to remote sites throughout Alaska and the lower 48 states.

Salary: $77,622–$128,852 annually.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and support scalable, reliable, and secure core, transport, and access network architectures.
• Plan and manage engineering projects from concept through deployment, including schedules, budgets, risks, and resource forecasts.
• Monitor KPIs, alarms, and service performance to resolve outages, congestion, and service degradation.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders; lead technical reviews and post-deployment validation.
• Maintain network diagrams, configuration records, databases of record, technical procedures, and implementation standards.
• Identify network improvements and optimize configurations, resiliency, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States; remote work is eligible, with occasional travel requirements.
• Strong knowledge of 5G Core architecture, including AMF, SMF, UPF, UDM, AUSF, PCF, NRF, NSSF, NEF, and PCC/PCG.
• Working knowledge of 4G EPC and 3G Core architectures, including experience supporting migration to 5G Core environments.
• Experience with IMS-based VoLTE, VoWiFi, and VoNR services, plus ancillary telecom systems such as SMSC/MMSC, OCS, voicemail, and VVM.
• Proficiency with Diameter, IP, SIP, GTP-C/U, PFCP, SCTP, HTTP/2, and TLS, including protocol-level troubleshooting.
• High school diploma or equivalent, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and at least four years of progressive engineering experience in telecom or related environments.

Nice to have

• Telecommunications industry experience and relevant telecom certifications.
• Experience with Linux, Ericsson, IMS, VMware, SIP certification, Kubernetes, or Docker.
• Familiarity with network slicing and cloud-native or virtualized core deployments.
