Director, Oxford Research Technology (Biotechnology)

Location: Oxford, United Kingdom. Hybrid work is available remotely up to two days per week, or the role can be performed on-site five days per week with ad hoc flexibility.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, delivery, security, support, and continuous evolution of enterprise laboratory technology platforms across Oxford.
• Build and manage a high-performing Lab Engineering Support organization using internal resources and managed service partners.
• Ensure stable, secure, and compliant laboratory technology operations across IT and OT environments.
• Own the Oxford site's operating budget, including financial planning, forecasting, vendor management, and value realization.
• Act as the primary technology partner for site leadership and the single front door for capturing, shaping, prioritizing, and routing research technology requirements.
• Lead platform adoption, change management, portfolio delivery, and cross-site prioritization advocacy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technology discipline or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading enterprise-scale technology platforms and support organizations.
• Experience managing complex programs, portfolios, vendor ecosystems, and financial accountability.
• Strong understanding of technology operations, cybersecurity, ITSM, ITIL, and system lifecycle practices.
• Proven people leadership and experience building and sustaining high-performing teams.
• Experience as a product owner, business relationship manager, or in a similar demand-shaping role within a matrixed organization.
