TL;DR
Software QA Automation Engineer, III (Mission Systems): Designing and maintaining automated test suites and frameworks for embedded, networked, and mission systems software with an accent on hardware-in-the-loop testing, flight-test support, and risk-based quality practices. Focus on building Python-based automation, debugging complex test software, and validating safety- and mission-critical functionality across development and system test teams.

Location: Moorpark, California, United States; onsite work in an office and R&D environment. Occasional travel within the Continental U.S. may be required, approximately 20%.

Salary: $100,500–$153,250 per year

What you will do

  • Design, expand, and maintain automated test suites and frameworks such as Xray.
  • Own component, subsystem, and automated system tests; review requirements and co-author system test plans.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop regressions and engineering flight tests for embedded, networked, and mission systems software.
  • Define QA practices, test scope, benchmarks, reporting standards, and risk-mitigation approaches.
  • Design test plans, scenarios, and cases; analyze, program, debug, and modify test automation.
  • Support defect reviews, mentor QA team members, and collaborate with development, DevOps, product, and system test teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in software QA automation.
  • Proficiency in one or more of C, C++, Python, C#/.NET, or Java; experience with object-oriented design is beneficial.
  • Experience building and optimizing automation frameworks, scripting in Python or a similar language, and working with Linux.
  • Experience with source control, CI pipelines such as GitLab, code reviews, and mentoring on automation practices.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or protected individual with qualifying asylee/refugee status; U.S. person status is required for ITAR/EAR compliance. U.S. citizenship may be required for some government contracts.

Nice to have

  • Experience testing embedded, robotics, UAS, safety-critical, or mission-critical software.
  • Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop environments and laboratory hardware.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development and test tools.
  • Security clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
