What you will do

• Lead the hiring and onboarding of a new engineering team from the ground up.
• Establish team norms, operating cadences, and a culture of ownership and craft.
• Partner with Product and Design to translate strategy into a sequenced, achievable roadmap.
• Implement and refine an AI-native development methodology across the full software lifecycle.
• Maintain high standards for quality, security, and compliance while balancing delivery velocity.
• Mentor and develop engineers, conducting regular 1:1s and growth conversations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in engineering management.
• Demonstrated experience standing up a new team or function.
• Strong technical depth in backend or full-stack development.
• Hands-on experience with AI-native or AI-assisted software development practices.
• Ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous, early-stage environment.
• Must be based in or able to work from San Diego, CA.
