TL;DR

Aerospace Quality Technician (Aerospace): Performing inspections, testing, and refurbishment of stratospheric balloon systems with an accent on AS9100/ISO 9001 compliance and hardware reliability. Focus on identifying nonconforming materials, maintaining calibration logs, and authoring quality work instructions to ensure first-time-right production.

Location: Must be located near Denver, CO and work on-site at the Denver facility. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

What you will do

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of soft and hard goods against engineering drawings and quality criteria.
  • Identify, tag, and disposition nonconforming materials while maintaining accurate records in the manufacturing system.
  • Execute rework, refurbishment, and functional testing of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
  • Author and maintain quality work instructions and inspection procedures within a controlled document system.
  • Manage the calibration log for all gauges and measuring instruments, coordinating both internal and third-party calibrations.
  • Support internal audits to maintain AS9100 and ISO9001 certified Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in a quality or test technician role within aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, test specifications, and quality inspection procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments and gauges.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for authoring unambiguous technical documentation.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

Nice to have

  • Structured problem-solving experience (8D, 5-Why, A3, Ishikawa).
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 5S experience.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (Minitab, Excel) for SPC or process capability studies.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
