Director, Quality (Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in El Segundo, California, United States. Must support extended hours, weekends, manufacturing activities, customer and supplier work, and audits as needed.

Salary: $175,000–$210,000 annually + equity

What you will do

• Own the Quality organization and product reliability, compliance, and certification activities.
• Build the quality team, organizational structure, budgets, headcount plans, and operating roadmap.
• Develop scalable quality-management systems, process controls, inspection strategies, quality gates, and measurement systems.
• Lead AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, customer, supplier, regulatory, and certification audit activities.
• Improve production yield, throughput, scrap, rework, defect rates, and customer escapes through data-driven initiatives.
• Lead root-cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, nonconformance management, calibration, metrology, and configuration control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, reliability, or quality within aerospace, automotive, industrial, or other highly regulated environments.
• 5+ years of direct management experience with engineers or technical quality teams.
• Experience building, scaling, or leading a manufacturing quality organization and improving throughput, yield, reliability, and quality.
• Strong knowledge of production quality, process controls, corrective actions, root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, and technical data analysis.
• Must be able to work onsite in El Segundo, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, AS9102 first-article inspection, CAPA, material review boards, supplier quality, or customer-quality systems.
• Experience selecting or scaling WMS, MES, or QMS platforms.
• Experience with metrology, inspection, calibration, aerospace, defense, automotive, or other high-reliability hardware programs.
• Senior leadership, departmental budgeting, capital-expenditure, resource-allocation, Lean, or Six Sigma experience.
