System Design Engineer (Semiconductor)

What you will do

• Develop, optimize, and qualify system calibrations, health checks, and diagnostic methodologies for consistent tool performance.
• Work with complex electromechanical systems, wafer handling automation, precision stages, sensors, and motion control systems.
• Characterize and continuously improve optical subsystems, including focus modules and image acquisition systems.
• Lead root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and technical investigations for system performance issues and customer escalations.
• Support new product introduction through engineering builds, beta installations, field qualification, performance validation, and customer pilots.
• Develop diagnostic tools, data analysis utilities, scripts, and automation workflows to improve troubleshooting and engineering productivity.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field with 0 years of related experience; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with 2 years of related experience.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, scripting, statistical analysis, and engineering CAD tools.
• Experience developing, integrating, troubleshooting, or supporting complex opto-mechanical, electromechanical, or semiconductor capital equipment.
• Strong fundamentals in wafer handling automation, microscopy, imaging systems, sensors, motion control, precision positioning, and system characterization.
• Excellent English communication skills are required.
• Ability to work independently, resolve technical issues, communicate effectively with customers and executives, and collaborate cross-functionally.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, wafer inspection, defect review, lithography, advanced packaging, metrology, or process control.
• Mandarin language skills.
