TL;DR
Sr. Electrical Design Engineer (Aerospace): Owning the electrical design lifecycle for complex avionics boards and subsystems with an accent on system architecture, PCB design guidance, signal integrity, power integrity, and hardware validation. Focus on analyzing and testing designs, supporting board bring-up and lab debugging, and leading multidisciplinary engineering efforts.

Location: Onsite in Phoenix, AZ, United States

Salary: $135,000–$155,000 annually

What you will do

  • Own the electrical design lifecycle for complex boards and subsystems, from requirements interpretation through validation and documentation.
  • Define system and block-level architectures and produce schematics and block diagrams.
  • Validate designs through analysis and testing, including modeling and simulation.
  • Provide PCB design guidance covering stack-up, routing, signal integrity, and power integrity.
  • Support board bring-up, laboratory debugging, and commissioning.
  • Lead design efforts when needed, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on hardware or electrical design experience.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Cadence Allegro or Altium.
  • Experience with SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, or Mathcad modeling and simulation tools.
  • Working knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity analysis and mitigation techniques.
  • Ability to produce clear design documentation and support board bring-up and laboratory debugging.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with harsh-environment or aerospace-grade hardware, including radiation-tolerant design and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Experience with analog instrumentation and digital design implementation and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with power devices, power modules, motor control, SI/PI teams, or FPGA teams.
