Electrical Engineer III (Aerospace)

Location: Louisville, Colorado, United States; flexible for occasional telework, but must be local to the work location.

Salary: $84,362.83–$146,690.59 per year.

What you will do

• Design and develop electronic hardware, circuits, and assemblies from concept through verification.
• Perform product testing and create models and prototypes for development and validation.
• Develop schematics, technical documentation, verification and validation plans, and test campaigns.
• Develop board bring-up procedures, perform functional checkout and debugging, and investigate hardware anomalies.
• Support manufacturing, installation, operation, maintenance, integration, and testing of electrical and electronic systems.
• Collaborate across disciplines, provide technical guidance to junior staff, and travel periodically for customer meetings, integration, and testing.

Requirements

• BS with 5–7 years, MS with 3–5 years, or PhD with 0–2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience designing electronic hardware, including requirements, architecture, schematics, component selection, and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing verification and validation plans and executing test campaigns for electronic hardware.
• Proficiency in high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuit design.
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, and CAN communication interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with prototype development, debugging, and board bring-up.
• Experience generating ICDs, ECOs, analyses, procedures, test reports, and other engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with PCB layout and wire harness design considerations, plus hardware verification, qualification, and anomaly resolution.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment while independently completing technical tasks; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel periodically for meetings, integration, and testing, and experience handling flight hardware with ESD controls and cleanroom operations.

Nice to have

• Experience designing spacecraft, payload, avionics, or aerospace electronics.
• Understanding of spacecraft electrical architectures, including power distribution and telemetry systems.
• Experience with spacecraft Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T), EGSE, simulators, or spacecraft command and control systems.
• Experience with RF communication systems, antenna integration, and battery-powered systems including charging and safety.
• Familiarity with embedded firmware development in C.
• Experience with SPICE, worst-case, reliability, or radiation effects analysis.
• Experience creating test automation or analysis scripts using Python or MATLAB.
• Experience supporting hardware from design reviews through environmental testing and flight qualification.
