Systems Engineer (Electromechanical)

Location: Rancho Dominguez, California, United States; onsite role.

Base salary: $95,000–$125,000 per year, dependent on experience, knowledge, and interview performance.

What you will do

• Lead technical decision-making for electromechanical projects requiring robust system architecture.
• Plan technical and programmatic aspects of product development programs with the Project Manager and Technical Lead.
• Define or review complete system architectures, identify key components and technologies, and develop technical roadmaps.
• Guide engineering teams through technical challenges, brainstorms, design reviews, integration, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Contribute individually across mechanical, electrical, software, physics, controls, and other engineering tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 3 years of professional engineering experience; 7+ years is expected for senior role consideration.
• Direct technical experience on multiple electromechanical projects and a deep understanding of physics and electromechanical control systems.
• Extensive detailed design experience in mechanical, electrical, or software systems.
• Experience with simulation and controls development, including Matlab/Simulink; SPICE platforms; 3D CAD such as Solidworks; PCB design such as Altium; C/C++ firmware development, typically with STM32 MCUs; and higher-level software development with Python and C/C++.
• Ability to translate client desires and requirements into system architectures and technical roadmaps.
• Ability to generate technical drawings of systems, components, and interfaces.
• Experience troubleshooting, debugging, and performing root cause analysis on electromechanical systems.
• Exceptional communication and English speaking ability, good technical writing, team leadership and support skills, mentoring ability, prioritization across competing demands, and the ability to handle concurrent fast-paced projects with minimal direction.
