Backend Engineer, Alarms (AI)

Annual pay range: $125,000–$160,000 USD

What you will do

• Design and build low-latency, highly available backend services for alarm detection and response.
• Create extensible AI-powered workflows for intrusion detection and video monitoring.
• Build distributed systems integrating internal products and third-party notification, transcription, and dispatch services.
• Develop real-time workflows for threat identification, customer notifications, video verification, and emergency dispatch.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, frontend engineers, and firmware engineers on end-to-end security experiences.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of backend engineering experience in a production environment.
• Strong programming skills; Go is preferred.
• Understanding of distributed systems, API architecture, and event-driven workflows.
• Experience with databases such as Postgres and scalable data systems such as Kafka and Redis.
• Ability to work in San Mateo, California, United States.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Temporal or other workflow engines.
• Experience developing AI systems that reason in real time from video and audio inputs.
