Platform Software Engineer (Linux/C)

Location: Sunrise, Florida, United States; office-based role

Salary: $85,000–$145,000 annual

What you will do

• Implement low-level Linux OS software working directly with hardware prototypes and laboratory test equipment.
• Implement and verify software algorithms and execute test strategies to deliver quality software.
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable, and maintainable code.
• Develop C software for multithreaded Linux environments, including programming-level networking.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to improve performance and reliability.
• Take ownership of moderately complex tasks and collaborate with other team members through completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, plus 2–10+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good knowledge of C and experience developing software targeting Linux, not only using Linux as a development environment.
• Familiarity with multithreaded environments, programming-level networking, source code control, and chip-level buses such as I2C and SPI.
• Experience with ARM development platforms such as Raspberry Pi or TI OMAP.
• Experience with a scripting language such as Python, AWK, Lua, or Shell.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance and provide documentation verifying U.S. person status for ITAR/EAR compliance.
