Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Carlsbad, California or Germantown, Maryland, United States. Up to 10% travel. A valid work permit or visa for the country where you will be located and working is required.

Salary: $117,000–$185,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $145,000–$218,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and contribute to the architecture of a carrier-grade control gateway.
• Develop software in C and C++ for terminal and device authentication, connectivity, and network operations.
• Write and execute unit, integration, and performance tests.
• Create deployment scripts and support CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues in production, including participation in an on-call rotation.
• Present designs, status updates, and technical issues to the team and wider audiences.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with C and C++, including design patterns.
• Experience with concurrent and multithreaded programming and Linux systems programming.
• Experience with Bash, Ansible, and Python scripting in Linux.
• Networking experience with TCP/IP, OSPF/BGP, protocol standards, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Jenkins, JIRA, Git, and/or Perforce.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in telecom, networking, satellite, or wireless communications.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, GCP, or other cloud environments.
• Hands-on knowledge of L2/L3 protocols and L4–L7 applications.
• Experience with Claude Code or Copilot.
