What you will do

  • Design, build, and maintain custom Ubuntu/Linux distributions for real-time, safety-critical autonomous vehicle workloads.
  • Optimize ROS 2 DDS middleware for low-latency, high-throughput multi-sensor data flows.
  • Develop and maintain kernel modules and user-space drivers for LiDARs, cameras, radars, GNSS/INS, CAN, and other vehicle interfaces.
  • Build observability, logging, networking, security, secure boot, and OTA update capabilities for lab and field deployments.
  • Own CI/CD pipelines for OS images and driver packages, automating build, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with autonomy, perception, and controls engineers to profile system resources, remove bottlenecks, support field trials, and document platform practices.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience developing or maintaining Linux-based embedded or robotics platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of Ubuntu/Linux, package management, systemd, networking, and kernel configuration.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python, including kernel module and user-space driver development or debugging.
  • Production or research experience with ROS 1 or ROS 2.
  • Familiarity with USB, Ethernet, CAN, PCIe, SPI, and I2C, plus real-time performance tuning, profiling, and resource-constrained optimization.
  • Experience with Git, Docker/OCI containers, and automated build systems such as Yocto or Buildroot.

Nice to have

  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, drones, or other safety-critical robotic systems.
  • Experience with ptp4l, v4l2/gstreamer, Nvidia Orin/Jetson, PREEMPT_RT, DDS internals, or QoS tuning.
  • Knowledge of CUDA, Vulkan, heterogeneous compute scheduling, functional safety tools, MISRA, or ISO 26262 workflows.
  • Experience supporting field deployments at airports or industrial sites.
