TL;DR

Director, Legal: Supporting product legal functions across the product development life cycle with an accent on technology transactions, software licensing, and scalable legal review processes. Focus on partnering with Product Management, Engineering, and Finance to draft and negotiate product-specific terms, manage privacy and data security requirements, and align upstream/downstream contractual terms.

What you will do

• Partner with product teams across conception, design, MVP definition, roadmap, commercial release, support, and end-of-life.
• Embed within the product organization to ensure legal compliance and other product requirements.
• Advise on legal and regulatory topics including open source, privacy by design, data inventory and flow, IP protection, and product/data security.
• Build and improve scalable processes for legal review and product launch, including template and playbook updates.
• Draft and negotiate technology transactions and agreements (e.g., inbound technology licenses, partner/OEM relationships, joint development, SaaS, acquisitions, hosted services).
• Support revenue recognition and financial/legal structuring for product terms (e.g., software, hardware, recurring services/SaaS, leases) and maintain end-to-end product bill of materials.

Requirements

• JD and membership in good standing of at least one US state bar.
• 12-15+ years of experience advising product teams on product-related legal issues and technology transactions/licenses (major law firm or in-house).
• Strong ability to draft, structure, and negotiate technology agreements and licensing terms.
• Ability to work flexibly across hours in a global enterprise and manage multiple projects under deadlines.
• Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
