Director, Legal- Commercial & Technology (AI)

Location: Oakland, California, USA; hybrid workplace

Salary: $149,600–$369,700 per year, depending on U.S. labor-cost zone and location; eligible for incentive plans.

What you will do

• Lead and negotiate the company’s highest-stakes and most complex commercial contracts.
• Manage technology transactions involving AI, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, data privacy, and security agreements.
• Oversee contracts for direct supply, indirect services, offshoring, outsourcing, and sales.
• Lead and develop the commercial contracting Legal team, including performance standards, KPIs, and capability building.
• Advise Technology, Procurement, Privacy, and Infosec as the Legal team’s technology and AI subject matter expert.
• Develop AI-first legal processes and support legal technology acquisition, implementation, and optimization.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• At least 10 years of legal experience with increasing responsibility.
• At least 3 years in-house at a technology company or as dedicated technology transactions counsel at a technology-focused law firm.
• Required experience negotiating SaaS, AI, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity agreements.
• Experience leading processes, managing people, and implementing legal processes and technologies.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills.
