Entry Level Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid work environment with in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility. The posting also identifies the workplace type as on-site.

Base salary: $75,000–$95,000 USD per year, plus discretionary performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Design HVAC and mechanical systems from concept design through construction for residential, higher education, commercial, science and technology, and federal facilities.
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations, energy analysis, engineering calculations, equipment sizing and selection, and system layout.
• Produce construction drawings, technical specifications, narratives, reports, and BIM models.
• Survey existing HVAC systems and site conditions and support construction through submittal reviews, contractor responses, and technical reports.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve design issues and deliver quality work.
• Support project development, client relationships, proposals, and project interviews when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0–2 years of engineering and design experience, preferably in the MEP industry.
• Knowledge of HVAC system design, building codes, and industry standards including ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, and NEC.
• Working ability with MS Office, Outlook, engineering calculation software, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, and Bluebeam Revu.
• Ability to prioritize shifting projects and deadlines and communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and contractors.

Nice to have

• EIT certification, or willingness to obtain it within 1–2 years.
• Knowledge of IBC, IMC, and IPC requirements.
