TL;DR

Power Electronics Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and testing pump-drive inverters for cryogenic rocket engines with an accent on control/driver boards and batteries. Focus on improving schematics, performing lab-based troubleshooting, and ensuring hardware integration within propulsion systems.

Location: Munich, Germany. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are provided.

Compensation: €65K – €82.5K

The Exploration Company is developing Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle designed for cargo and potentially human transport.

What you will do

  • Finalize schematics and layouts for power and control boards.
  • Perform bring-up, lab tests, and troubleshooting of power electronics systems in-house and at external labs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, control, software, mechatronics) to ensure successful hardware integration.
  • Prepare technical reports and contribute to the development of operating procedures.
  • Enhance the performance and safety of propulsion test benches.

Requirements

  • BSc or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics.
  • 2+ years of experience in hardware development and troubleshooting, preferably in aerospace, avionics, or automotive sectors.
  • 2+ years of experience with power electronics systems, specifically drive or traction inverters.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer and simulation software such as PLECS, Matlab/Simulink, or LTspice.
  • Knowledge of SiC semiconductors, gate drivers, and thermal management.
  • English: Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Power HIL prototyping, battery/motor emulators, and EMC pre-compliance tests.
  • Familiarity with radiation hardness and mitigation for electronic systems.
  • Understanding of space-relevant standards such as ECSS, MIL-STD, or NASA-HBK.
  • Proficiency in French or German.
