TL;DR
Spacecraft Operations Engineer for LEO and/or GEO satellites (Spacecraft Operations): Ensuring in-flight spacecraft operations and preparing operational baselines, procedures, databases, and validation activities with an accent on satellite performance monitoring, anomaly resolution, and ground-segment operations. Focus on 24/7 on-call support, spacecraft simulator validation, LEOP and commissioning preparation, and operational readiness for launch.
Location: On-site at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. Applicants must be EU citizens or eligible to obtain a work permit for Germany.

What you will do
- Ensure proper in-flight operations for LEO and/or GEO spacecraft, including mission planning checks, daily monitoring, and 24/7 on-call support.
- Monitor subsystem health and performance, prepare reports, raise anomaly reports, and contribute to anomaly investigation and resolution.
- Develop and maintain operational baselines, manual and automated procedures, operational databases, documentation, and configuration-controlled data units.
- Support spacecraft operations preparation, system validation tests, rehearsals, operational validation campaigns, LEOP, commissioning, re-orbiting, and decommissioning activities.
- Contribute to spacecraft simulator, ground-segment, analysis, reporting, and offline tool development and maintenance.
- Coordinate with satellite manufacturers, system teams, Flight Dynamics, Mission Operations Facility, and other subsystem or facility experts.
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
- Experience with spacecraft operations on LEO and/or GEO missions, including responsibility for spacecraft subsystems or instruments.
- Experience preparing and validating spacecraft operational baselines, procedures, databases, simulators, and ground-segment monitoring and control facilities.
- Experience with satellite performance monitoring, anomaly analysis, procedure change control, and configuration management.
- Experience with SCOS 2000 Mission Control System.
- EU citizenship or eligibility to obtain a work permit for Germany is required.
Nice to have
- Experience with the APEX operations procedures preparation and execution tool.
- LEOP and commissioning experience.
- Knowledge of On-Board Control Procedures, ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, and system configuration management.
- Programming or data analysis experience with Python, Java, VBA, or similar tools.
- Ability to analyze complex technical problems and communicate technical information clearly.
