TL;DR

Senior Electrical Engineer (Embedded Hardware): Develop electronics from concept to production for the card personalization business with an accent on mixed-signal, high-speed interfaces, power supplies, and cross-domain integration. Focus on board bring-up, debugging/root-cause analysis, test/verification, and transitioning designs into manufacturable production.

Location: Minneapolis, MN (in-office Monday through Friday)

Salary: $96,797–$141,969 per year

What you will do

  • Design, capture schematics, prototype, and support layout of microcontroller/microprocessor-based PWB/PWA designs from concept through production.
  • Design and develop complex embedded systems spanning mixed-signal design, high-speed interfaces, power supplies, and integration across hardware, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing domains.
  • Participate in system architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical tradeoff evaluations to ensure robust, scalable, and manufacturable designs.
  • Develop or support firmware and/or FPGA designs; lead board bring-up, debugging, and root-cause analysis to drive issues to resolution.
  • Test and verify new designs; create and execute test plans and build test fixtures for production testing.
  • Lead or support transition of designs into production and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, PWB/PWA design, schematic capture, layout support, and board bring-up with increasing ownership.
  • Ability to independently design, bring up, debug, and deliver embedded hardware systems, printed wiring assemblies, or major electrical subsystems.
  • Strong analog and digital circuit design experience, including DC/DC power supplies, mixed-signal circuits, and digital interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, USB).
  • Experience developing in C/C++ and/or VHDL or Verilog.
  • Must be able to lawfully work in the US with unrestricted work authorization.

Nice to have

  • Experience with EE design tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics) and FPGA development tools (e.g., Xilinx, Microsemi, Intel/Altera).
  • Experience with smart card, RFID, NFC, printing, motion control, laser systems, or other electromechanical embedded systems.
  • Experience with system-level design discussions, electrical architecture reviews, and cross-functional technical tradeoffs.
  • Working knowledge of project management concepts (timelines, costs, requirements, resources).
  • Openness to adopting modern development tools, including AI-assisted tools, to improve design efficiency and debugging workflows.
