Senior Electrical Engineer (Embedded Hardware)

Location: United States — Shakopee, Minnesota; in-office in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Monday through Friday

Salary: $96,797–$141,969 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive plan

What you will do

• Design schematics, prototypes, and layout support for microcontroller- and microprocessor-based PWB/PWA designs from concept through production.
• Develop complex embedded systems involving analog and digital circuits, mixed-signal design, high-speed interfaces, power supplies, and hardware–firmware integration.
• Participate in system architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical tradeoff evaluations.
• Lead board bring-up, hardware debugging, root cause analysis, design verification, and validation testing.
• Support firmware and FPGA development, production transitions, regulatory qualification, and production test fixture development.
• Coordinate technical requirements with vendors, sourcing, manufacturing, and cross-functional engineering teams; mentor junior engineers, technicians, and interns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, PWB/PWA design, schematic capture, layout support, and board bring-up.
• Independent experience designing, debugging, validating, and delivering embedded hardware systems or major electrical subsystems.
• Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, DC/DC power supplies, mixed-signal circuits, and interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, and USB.
• Experience with C/C++ and/or VHDL or Verilog.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions; relocation is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Mentor Graphics, FPGA tools such as Xilinx, Microsemi, or Intel/Altera, and printed wiring board production support.
• Experience with smart cards, RFID, NFC, printing, motion control, laser systems, or other electromechanical embedded systems.
• 7+ years of embedded hardware design experience and demonstrated technical ownership.
• Project management knowledge and experience evaluating modern or AI-assisted engineering tools.
