Staff Electrical Engineer (UAS)

Location: Flightwave, Torrance, California, United States; onsite work across lab, office, and manufacturing environments

Salary: $176,000–$205,000 annually, plus equity, potential bonuses, and company benefits.

Flightwave, a wholly owned subsidiary of hirify.global, develops high-performance robotic systems and unmanned aircraft systems for drone applications.

What you will do

• Define high-level electrical system architectures for major products such as drones, gimbals, and ground control stations.
• Translate product requirements into formal, testable system and subsystem engineering requirements.
• Lead electrical engineers, integrate subsystem designs, and guide design reviews.
• Perform technology trade studies and manage systems containing application processors and multiple microcontrollers.
• Design for EMC compliance, manufacturing, and testing; develop and execute EVT procedures.
• Direct PCB layout, coordinate ICT and FCT development, and maintain electrical BOMs in the PLM system.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 11–15 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience in electronics design, embedded systems, or aerospace/UAS sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of HDI PCB technology, PCB stackups, EMI/EMC, signal integrity, and power integrity.
• Knowledge of high-speed buses including USB, MIPI, PCIe, and Ethernet, plus electrical signal propagation.
• Expertise in at least three UAV technologies, such as BLDC motor drives, inertial sensors, GPS, lithium-ion batteries, camera interfaces, or radio modules.
• Proficiency with laboratory test equipment, Altium Designer, and a SPICE-based or SI/PI design tool; U.S. citizenship or permanent residence is required for ITAR/EAR-controlled work, and sponsorship is not available.
