What you will do

• Lead the architectural evolution of core storage engine components, resolving performance bottlenecks in indexing layouts and serialization.
• Drive cross-organizational initiatives to build industry-leading observability solutions for logs and metrics.
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and technical advisor/mentor to the wider engineering organization.
• Collaborate with the global community to triage, resolve, and review issues and pull requests.
• Write idiomatic modern Java to develop core storage and query technologies.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Canada
• Proven track record of designing high-performance, scalable database or search engine technologies.
• Strong core Java skills and deep understanding of concurrency primitives, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience implementing novel techniques for indexing, storing, and querying time-series or logs data.
• Ability to work autonomously in a globally distributed team using asynchronous communication.
• Proficiency in leveraging AI agents and prompt engineering to accelerate development and debugging.

Nice to have

• Prior experience building with hirify.globalsearch.
• Contributions to open source projects and familiarity with various source control workflows.
• Experience in OS, cloud service development, or general data storage technology.
• Experience with Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
