Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Fintech)

Location: Remote (Canada). Must be based in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.

Salary: $181,000 - $241,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Set technical strategy on a year-long time scale and lead business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to manage technical risks and trade-offs.
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining technical solutions and operational processes.
• Own team operations, including monitoring, triage rotations, and on-call policies.
• Establish code review and design standards to foster a culture of quality.
• Mentor and develop talent within the engineering team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in backend systems using Python or Kotlin.
• Proven track record with distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
• Experience in financial systems, ledgering, or treasury domains.
• Ability to deliver major features through detailed technical and execution plans.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to work across different levels of system architecture.
• Must reside in one of the specified Canadian provinces.
