C++ Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote, UK-based. Candidates must have the existing right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available. Occasional out-of-hours work is required for production releases, maintenance windows, and critical incident support.

hirify.global operates the Switchboard OTC trading platform, connecting liquidity providers across FX, equities, and cryptocurrency markets.

What you will do

• Build and maintain core Switchboard components, including pricing engines, connectivity gateways, market-data systems, and messaging layers.
• Design, test, deploy, support, and improve production trading systems throughout their full lifecycle.
• Optimize microsecond-level latency, throughput, deterministic behavior, and system reliability.
• Work with market-data and reference-data pipelines across multiple asset classes and integrate with banks and liquidity providers through FIX.
• Develop observability through dashboards, alerting, and metrics, and investigate production incidents with a 15-minute acknowledgement SLA during working hours.
• Collaborate in a distributed team through documentation, peer reviews, proactive communication, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 3+ years of strong C++ experience with Linux systems programming.
• Ability to work close to the metal and understand the behavior beneath application code.
• Experience with performance-sensitive systems, including profiling, optimization, and deterministic behavior.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including TCP, UDP, and socket programming.
• Python experience for scripting, automation, testing, data analysis, tooling, and operational workflows.
• Experience with Git and shell scripting.
• Willingness to work with Go internally and to support production releases, scheduled maintenance, and critical incidents outside normal working hours when required.
• Strong written and verbal communication, documentation habits, clean and testable code, and thoughtful code reviews.
• Curiosity and willingness to use AI tools such as Claude and Gemini for code review, debugging, incident investigation, and documentation.
