Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity): Building and scaling chat-based cybersecurity training platforms with an accent on Elixir/Phoenix development and AI-first engineering workflows. Location: Must be based in Paris or willing to relocate. This is an on-site position with up to 2 days per month of remote work.

What you will do

• Ship new features for the flagship Awareness product end-to-end.
• Build and maintain robust systems serving millions of learners and thousands of admins.
• Organize the backend codebase and establish team engineering standards.
• Research, prototype, and implement solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Utilize AI-first workflows, including Claude Code and MCP integrations, for daily development.
• Collaborate closely with PMs and designers to shape product direction.

Requirements

• Must be based in Paris or willing to relocate.
• Full professional proficiency in English and native French required.
• 2+ years of experience building production backend applications.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and relational data modeling.
• Experience or strong interest in AI-assisted development tools.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and execute quickly without compromising quality.

Nice to have

• Experience with Elixir and Phoenix framework.
• Background in Ruby, Python, or Go.
• Interest in cybersecurity mission.
