Backend Engineer (Elixir)

Location: Paris, France. On-site position with up to 2 days per month of remote work. Candidates must be based in Paris or willing to relocate.

What you will do

• Ship new Awareness features end-to-end for chat-based cybersecurity courses and custom training tools.
• Build robust backend systems serving millions of learners and thousands of administrators.
• Model organizational hierarchies and maintain reliable content delivery at scale.
• Organize the backend codebase and define engineering standards.
• Research, pitch, and prototype solutions to complex product and technical problems.
• Use AI-first development workflows and improve internal automation pipelines.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience building backend applications in production.
• Professional experience with SQL and relational data modeling.
• Serious practical experience using AI coding tools.
• Ability to prioritize effectively, ship quickly, and maintain high quality standards.
• Full professional proficiency in English and native French.
• Based in Paris or willing to relocate to France.

Nice to have

• Experience with Elixir and Phoenix.
• Background in Ruby, Python, or Go is also relevant.
• Motivation to work on cybersecurity products.

Hiring process

• 30-minute call with the Talent Acquisition Manager.
• One-hour technical system design interview with the Engineering Manager, followed by a take-home case study.
• On-site cultural fit interview and a 30-minute interview with the CTO.
