Software Engineer (Python/Django)

Location: Paris, Île-de-France Region, France

Salary: €5,279.34 per month, plus allowances based on eligibility; exempt from French income tax.

The hirify.global is an international organisation that develops evidence-based policies and standards, with the Nuclear Energy Agency supporting cooperation on nuclear safety, technology, science, environmental and economic matters.

What you will do

• Develop a secure database and software infrastructure for the Computer Program Service, including code and benchmark distribution workflows.
• Integrate new software with NEA IT infrastructure and implement logging and reporting for distribution activities.
• Maintain and monitor Data Bank digital services, interfaces and related infrastructure.
• Re-implement legacy functionality in modern programming languages while preserving business logic and system behaviour.
• Support API-enabled frameworks for nuclear physics data, experimental data and other scientific datasets.
• Work with Data Bank staff and internal and external stakeholders to understand needs, advise on solutions and present results.

Requirements

• University degree in mathematics, computer science, science, engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• At least two years of software development experience.
• Strong expertise with Python and Django, plus FastAPI and/or Django REST Framework.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, database administration, SQL and containerisation.
• Experience with Linux-based operating systems, cloud environments, Docker/Kubernetes and Git platforms.
• Fluency in English or French and knowledge of the other hirify.global official language are required. Applicants must be nationals of NEA or hirify.global member countries.

Nice to have

• Advanced academic degree.
• Knowledge of nuclear engineering, physics, reactor simulation, nuclear data processing or nuclear systems modelling.
• Knowledge of AI methodologies, including LLMs and RAG pipelines.

Culture & Benefits

• Full-time position within the NEA Data Bank under the supervision of the Head of the Data Bank.
• 24-month fixed-term appointment, with possible renewal up to a maximum of 36 months.
• Monthly salary is supplemented by allowances based on eligibility.
• Work involves international cooperation across hirify.global and NEA member countries.
• Appointment may be made at one grade lower depending on qualifications and professional experience.
