Engineering Programme Manager (Defence and Aerospace)

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, UK; hybrid and flexible working options may be considered. Candidates must be able to work in the UK without restrictions and successfully complete the required level of UK National Security Vetting.

What you will do

• Manage high-value and complex engineering projects and programmes across multidisciplinary teams.
• Plan and control programme scope, costs, schedules, resources, work packages, and integrated master schedules.
• Lead programme-level risk, opportunity, issue, non-conformance, and change management.
• Manage subcontractors and statements of work while coordinating project finance, commercial, quality, supply chain, and trade compliance activities.
• Provide strategic direction to project managers, coach and mentor team members, and engage with customers and stakeholders.
• Prepare project plans, technical documentation, monthly cost reports, and governance updates.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of project management experience for external candidates, with experience delivering comparable programmes.
• Experience managing projects valued at £5 million or more, or equivalent high-level programme exposure.
• Degree in engineering or a related field, or significant relevant industry experience.
• Strong stakeholder, conflict, priority, customer engagement, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Experience with product design and development, Product Lifecycle Management, scheduling techniques, WBS, OBS, PBS, and MS Project.
• UK work authorization without restrictions and successful completion of appropriate UK National Security Vetting are required.

Nice to have

• APM Project Professional Qualification (PPQ), or active progress toward the qualification.
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as IFS.
