Software Engineer – Full Stack Engineer (Node.js / GraphQL)

Location: Welcome Building, UK; flexible hybrid working options are available.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for the Discover platform.
• Build scalable REST and GraphQL APIs, integrations, and AWS serverless applications.
• Develop customer journeys for investment discovery, savings comparison, search, account opening, and transfers.
• Improve platform scalability, resilience, observability, performance, automation, and operational excellence.
• Contribute across the full stack and collaborate with frontend, Product, Platform, and Engineering teams.
• Own features and issues from technical design through production, including CI/CD, code reviews, and architecture discussions.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, REST APIs, API integrations, JSON processing, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with AWS, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SNS/SQS, IAM, Secrets Manager, and Parameter Store.
• Knowledge of GraphQL API and schema design, federation patterns, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform, CDK, or SST, plus CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.
• Full-stack experience with React, TypeScript, and customer-facing web applications.
• Ownership of technical solutions, independent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Typesense, Elasticsearch, Contentful, or other headless CMS platforms.
• LaunchDarkly, OAuth, authentication flows, cross-account AWS patterns, analytics, or Grafana.
• TanStack Query, Zustand, Vite, micro-frontends, Module Federation, or Tailwind CSS.
• PHP or experience supporting PHP-based services.
• Financial services experience.
