Senior Software Engineer, CoinDesk Media (AI) (Next.js/React/TypeScript): Building and optimizing high-availability web, mobile, and backend services for CoinDesk’s media platform with an accent on full-stack architecture, performance, and AI-native engineering. Focus on designing resilient high-traffic systems, improving Core Web Vitals, building automated testing and CI/CD pipelines, and maintaining production reliability and security.

What you will do
- Identify architectural gaps and deliver robust, long-term solutions before they affect users.
- Set technical direction, architectural standards, and engineering practices across the CoinDesk media stack.
- Own complex features end to end, from scoping with product managers and designers through deployment and production operations.
- Build and optimize resilient functionality across coindesk.com, mobile applications, and backend services using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and modern backend technologies.
- Use AI tools and develop internal AI tooling to improve workflows for product, design, and editorial teams.
- Drive progressive delivery with LaunchDarkly, dependable CI/CD pipelines, observability, performance, and security.
Requirements
- 7–8 years of experience shipping production software and demonstrated ownership of a complex, high-traffic system.
- Deep experience with React, Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, RESTful APIs, and content management platforms.
- Strong knowledge of server-side rendering, advanced caching, and Core Web Vitals optimization.
- Experience with automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using tools such as Playwright and Maestro.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines, applying security practices, and using feature flags and production telemetry.
- Background designing or maintaining high-volume consumer or media platforms with tens of millions of monthly impressions.
Nice to have
- Experience deprecating and decommissioning legacy infrastructure and services.
- Production experience with React Native and Expo.
- Familiarity with Bun, Elysia, Redis, Auth0, and Sanity.
- Experience with Google Ad Manager, Stripe, HubSpot, Amplitude, Google Cloud Platform, and Terraform.
