Senior Engineering Manager, Voice and Video

Location: Remote in Ireland or the UK; occasional travel may be required for project or team meetings.

What you will do

• Lead senior engineers developing the next-generation media processing stack for Voice services.
• Drive architecture decisions for low-latency, high-throughput systems handling billions of media streams.
• Define technical roadmaps with product, platform, and engineering teams.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, operational reliability, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor engineers and guide the resolution of complex media processing challenges.
• Own performance metrics, reliability targets, technical debt reduction, and technology stack decisions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering management experience leading teams that build distributed systems.
• Experience with Voice or VoIP infrastructure and media handling challenges.
• Strong background architecting and operating reliable, scalable backend services under strict SLOs.
• Deep understanding of systems design, microservices architecture, cloud infrastructure, performance optimization, and operational excellence.
• Experience balancing reliability, scalability, technical debt, and feature development while delivering complex infrastructure projects.
• Experience with real-time communications, media processing, streaming technologies, or related fields, plus strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with SIP, RTP/RTCP, media codecs, transcoding, packet loss concealment, or audio processing.
• Background building low-latency, globally distributed systems or Voice AI products.
• Experience with Rust, Java, C/C++, Asterisk, gStreamer, AWS, or similar cloud platforms.
• Prior telecommunications or communications platform experience.
