Electro-Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States; onsite manufacturing role. The position involves access to ITAR-controlled information, so the hire must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 per year plus equity.

What you will do

• Partner with design engineers to improve manufacturability across initial designs, flight hardware, and tooling.
• Develop manufacturing systems for large spacecraft assemblies, electromechanical subassemblies, wire harnesses, welded and bolted structures, and mechanisms.
• Build prototypes, test advanced manufacturing techniques, and improve spacecraft designs with engineering teams.
• Create custom tools, processes, and Manufacturing Execution System software to support production.
• Define and iterate subassembly build flows for efficient satellite production.
• Research novel manufacturing technologies and transition validated methods to flight hardware and production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in a high-volume, rapid-production environment in manufacturing, integration, or design engineering.
• Demonstrated results in product development or process improvement.
• Experience setting up a manufacturing or production floor for first-article builds.
• Experience developing avionics subassembly manufacturing technologies, including wire harnesses and PCBA or mechanical enclosure assembly.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

• Tooling design for mechanical subassemblies and electronics.
• Hardware design for manufacturability and production processes developed from the ground up.
• Experience working with technicians, build tooling, and aerospace manufacturing standards.
• Familiarity with NX or equivalent CAD software and GD&T.
• Experience using MES for procedure creation and non-conformance documentation.
