Lead Avionics Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: $117K–$187K annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead avionics manufacturing engineering across SMT, post-SMT processing, board acceptance testing, thermal cycling, and electromechanical box build.
• Develop manufacturing standards, process specifications, work instructions, acceptance criteria, and production controls.
• Own process development, qualification, validation, equipment selection, tooling, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with electrical and mechanical engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams to improve manufacturability, testability, reliability, and scalability.
• Drive new product introduction from prototypes into controlled production and track yield, defects, rework, cycle time, and process capability.
• Mentor manufacturing engineers and technicians while leading root-cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience in electronics or avionics manufacturing engineering.
• Experience with SMT processes, PCBAs, electronic assemblies, manufacturing documentation, and production controls.
• Ability to lead complex manufacturing problems from investigation through corrective action and work directly with engineering and production teams.
• Must meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience leading manufacturing engineers or owning a major electronics manufacturing area.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, medical-device, or other high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
• Knowledge of IPC standards, AS9100, AOI, X-ray inspection, rework, cleaning, conformal coating, and thermal cycling.
• Experience with board-level acceptance testing, MES traceability, PFMEAs, control plans, statistical process control, and process capability.
• Experience bringing electronics manufacturing processes in-house or scaling a new production operation.
