Location: Hybrid role, must be based in or able to relocate to Austin, TX; Mountain View, CA; or Warren, MI.

Salary: $160,000–$240,000

What you will do

• Lead and develop a team of engineers focused on cloud platform capabilities including messaging, data, and storage.
• Drive delivery and operational excellence for shared services within the Nova platform.
• Manage backlogs, planning, and team ceremonies to ensure execution clarity.
• Define and execute roadmaps for platform reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
• Establish standards for monitoring, observability, deployment patterns, and incident response.
• Coach engineers and emerging leaders through feedback and career development.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the US; GM does not provide immigration sponsorship for this role.
• Significant experience leading engineering teams in cloud platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Strong technical foundation in cloud-native systems and production operations.
• Experience leading teams responsible for messaging, data, or storage platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to hire, coach, and develop engineers across multiple experience levels.
• Ability to influence across organizational boundaries and connect technical decisions to business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Postgres, or Cassandra.
• Experience leading teams operating multi-cloud services across Azure and GCP.
• Background in developer enablement and building internal platform products.
