RF Engineer I/II - Radar (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's headquarters and intended for candidates seeking to work in U.S. offices.

Base salary: $82,400–$126,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $89,350–$143,625 USD annually.

What you will do

• Support architecture design, prototyping, integration, testing, and flight development for space-based radar and SAR systems.
• Perform radar link-budget analysis, performance modeling, simulations, and calculations covering SNR, resolution, Doppler effects, coverage, and orbital parameters.
• Support waveform and RF component design trades, mission analysis, ground-track visualization, access-time calculations, and revisit analysis.
• Develop test plans, conduct radar and RF testing, support calibration, and assess radar image quality.
• Collect and post-process radar data and prepare test reports, analysis summaries, interface control documents, and technical proposals.
• Collaborate with RF, digital, systems, and spacecraft engineers on requirements, reviews, troubleshooting, schedules, and deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of radar systems, radar equations, signal processing, RF systems, link budgets, amplifiers, and receiver architectures.
• Academic or professional exposure to SAR, space-based radar, or remote sensing, with basic knowledge of orbital mechanics and spacecraft systems.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools for analysis and simulation.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance is required. U.S. office employment is also subject to ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with STK, MATLAB Phased Array Toolbox, orbital modeling, RF test equipment, phased arrays, beamforming, or RF design tools such as AWR, ADS, and CST.
• Knowledge of radar imaging modes, digital or image processing, spacecraft qualification, launch environments, and space-environment effects.
• Existing security clearance, relevant internship or research experience, Git, and software development practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and independent-working skills.
