Vice President, Preconstruction (AI Data Centers)

Location: Hybrid role based in one of the following US locations: Denver, Colorado; Phoenix, Arizona; Santa Clara, California; or Ashburn, Virginia. Travel of up to 30% or more may be required.

Salary: $270,000–$290,000 base annually plus bonus. Compensation may vary by location, qualifications, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Define preconstruction strategy, standards, and scalable delivery models for hyperscale and AI data center deployments.
• Lead site due diligence focused on power availability, utility coordination, environmental requirements, zoning, permitting, and phased expansion.
• Coordinate campus master planning, high-density layouts, basis-of-design development, liquid-cooling readiness, and flexible infrastructure design.
• Establish cost models, schedules, risk mitigation plans, and decision frameworks balancing speed, cost, and scalability.
• Deliver fully scoped, budget-aligned, permit-ready documentation and ensure effective handoff to construction teams.
• Collaborate with real estate, development, design, construction, operations, commercial teams, utilities, jurisdictions, and hyperscale customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Real Estate, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in preconstruction, development, design, or construction leadership within data centers, infrastructure, or large-scale industrial projects.
• Experience delivering hyperscale or campus-style, multi-phase developments.
• Deep expertise in power-driven site selection, due diligence, design management, and cost estimation.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, executive presence, and experience engaging senior leadership, utilities, and hyperscale customers.
• Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects in competitive and power-constrained markets.
