Vice President, Preconstruction (Commercial Construction)

Location: Falls Church, Virginia, United States

Salary: $165,000–$225,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide executive leadership for preconstruction, estimating, bidding services, and virtual construction functions across the organization.
• Develop and improve standards, operating procedures, budget templates, pricing databases, and estimating best practices.
• Oversee more than $40 billion in annual bid volume, including conceptual, schematic, design development, GMP, and competitive bid estimates.
• Analyze cost models, pricing strategies, market conditions, procurement challenges, and project risks.
• Present budgets, estimates, value engineering recommendations, and preconstruction solutions to clients, design teams, and project stakeholders.
• Lead project turnover, talent development, resource planning, business development initiatives, and collaboration with Operations and Executive Leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in commercial construction, preconstruction, estimating, or project management leadership.
• Experience overseeing large-scale commercial pursuits, complex portfolios, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Expertise in conceptual estimating, budgeting, value engineering, procurement, risk management, project delivery, scheduling, and cost management.
• Strong financial, communication, presentation, relationship-building, strategic planning, and executive leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ACC, Revit, Bluebeam, and other construction technology platforms.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Experience with BIM technologies, including 3D, 4D, and 5D modeling.
• LEED Accredited Professional certification.
• Experience across mission critical, healthcare, government, hospitality, multifamily, industrial, advanced manufacturing, or corporate office projects.
