Senior Backend Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Hybrid in Mississauga, Canada

Expected compensation: 90K CAD annually, with the final amount based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend APIs and software features.
• Architect and implement cloud-native solutions using distributed systems and serverless technologies.
• Build and enhance Java and Spring Boot microservices-based applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices.
• Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment and contribute to architecture and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, with experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Experience building and maintaining microservices architectures.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience working in Agile development environments, with strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience developing cloud-native applications with AWS.
• Frontend development experience and ability to contribute to full-stack initiatives.
• Background in life sciences, bioinformatics, healthcare, or medical devices.
• Experience working in regulated environments with design control processes.
