Senior Software Developer/Architect (Confluent)

Location: Remote or hybrid, based in Markham, Toronto, or Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Must be able to work in Canada without sponsorship. Some travel may be required.

Salary: CAD 137,000–186,000 per year.

What you will do

• Architect and develop secure, scalable components connecting Apache Kafka with external systems.
• Build and operate self-managed and fully managed connectors for on-premises environments and Confluent Cloud.
• Design authentication, security, tenant isolation, role-based access, network controls, and Single Message Transforms.
• Improve platform stability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Partner with engineering stakeholders to define and execute the data streaming platform roadmap.
• Lead and mentor developers while providing technical guidance on complex projects.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Deep hands-on expertise in hyperscale distributed systems and delivery of secure, highly available, low-latency systems.
• Production cloud experience, participation in an on-call rotation, and knowledge of cloud networking and security.
• Experience with Java, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, or Azure and cloud best practices.
• Must be able to work in Canada without sponsorship. Candidates subject to the specified export sanctions are not eligible.

Nice to have

• Experience with back-end and front-end development and DevOps engineering.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Experience contributing to automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
