What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and supplier agreements, including hardware supply and software licensing.
• Design and maintain compliance programs for data privacy, safety, regulatory obligations, and corporate governance.
• Provide legal counsel to cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and business development.
• Advise on federal, state, and local regulatory matters related to autonomous vehicle testing and commercialization.
• Manage outside counsel for specialized matters including litigation, IP, and regulatory filings.
• Develop and deliver training programs on legal compliance and risk management.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 5–8 years of legal experience, combining law firm and in-house counsel roles.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating complex commercial and supplier agreements.
• Substantive expertise in at least one area: regulatory affairs, safety/product liability, data privacy, or employment law.
• Strong business judgment to balance legal risk against operational objectives in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in the autonomous vehicle, automotive, or robotics sector.
• Familiarity with NHTSA regulations and FMVSS standards.
• Privacy certifications such as CIPP/US or CIPP/E.
• Background in government affairs or public policy.
