What you will do

• Structure customer contracts (MSAs and Order Forms) to manage risk across copyright, data access, and privacy.
• Own the legal strategy for partnership and content licensing deals.
• Become the internal expert on the legal landscape of web scraping, including robots.txt, ToS, and access case law.
• Collaborate directly with engineering teams to ensure technical compliance in data sourcing and serving.
• Advise founders and leadership on risk and strategy during scaling phases.
• Build foundational legal infrastructure, including templates, playbooks, and processes.

Requirements

• 6+ years of legal practice with significant exposure to data, IP, privacy, and technology transactions.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or hold a valid U.S. work visa.
• Deep understanding or ability to quickly master the legal terrain of web scraping and public data.
• Ability to translate complex legal issues into practical guidance for a fast-moving technical team.
• Comfortable operating as the sole legal authority and making high-stakes decisions.
• Strong ability to bridge the gap between engineering workflows and commercial legal requirements.
