Application Consultant (Utility)

TL;DR

Application Consultant (Utility CIS): Implementing and optimizing utility Customer Information System (CIS) solutions with an accent on business process alignment and technical configuration. Focus on performing gap analysis, leading user acceptance testing, and bridging the gap between clients and R&D teams.

Location: Remote within Canada or the US. Travel required (approximately 50%).

Salary: $65k - $85k

What you will do

• Lead utility clients through the CIS implementation process, providing system setup, administration, and maintenance training.
• Perform business analysis including gap analysis, root cause analysis, and requirements elicitation to align software with client goals.
• Configure applications based on utility business processes (billing, collections, meter-to-cash) and industry best practices.
• Manage the user acceptance testing (UAT) and change management processes to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
• Collaborate with R&D and operational groups as a subject matter expert to improve product success based on market trends.
• Create and deliver comprehensive user and handover documentation for support staff.

Requirements

• Proven problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Experience working with business and IT groups, preferably in enterprise software or utility CIS environments.
• Must be based in Canada or the US and legally eligible to travel internationally (Canada, US, and Caribbean).
• Ability to travel an average of 50% of the time within North America.
• Willingness to actively adopt and leverage AI tools (Copilots, chat-based AI) to increase workflow efficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Direct experience in software implementation.
• Knowledge of SQL.
