Director Technical Program Management, Planning (AI)

Salary: $249,000–$348,500 total cash range, with potential pay up to $398,500 based on sustained performance.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the CTO-aligned Technical Program Management team across multiple engineering groups.
• Own the CTO TPM program slate, including intake, triage, handoff criteria, and prioritization of complex technology initiatives.
• Run annual and quarterly planning cycles with Product and Engineering, translating strategy into capacity-checked initiative plans.
• Manage engineering commitments and headcount allocation while connecting strategic goals to execution progress, scope, and delivery mix.
• Develop the TPM community of practice, standards, tooling, leveling frameworks, and development pathways.
• Use analytics and AI-assisted insights to support resource allocation, mid-quarter rebalancing, risk prediction, and delivery forecasting.

Requirements

• 12+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree or 10+ years with a master's degree, including at least 4 years leading TPM teams or a TPM function at director-level scope.
• Experience running enterprise-scale annual and quarterly planning, capacity planning, commitment tracking, and headcount allocation across engineering organizations.
• Ability to operate as a strategic peer to Engineering and Product leadership and shape portfolio investment decisions.
• Experience establishing or scaling TPM communities, leveling frameworks, competency standards, mentorship, and development pathways.
• Practical experience with AI-driven systems, AI/ML concepts, planning, risk prediction, status synthesis, and responsible-use governance.

• Experience with centralized Analytics or BI teams and dynamic data-driven resource allocation models.
• Background in matrixed organizations with centralized and embedded TPM structures.
• Experience with Jira-based or comparable delivery hierarchies for portfolio tracking and reporting.
• Leadership experience simplifying and automating planning and allocation processes.
• Experience driving organization-wide adoption of AI-powered portfolio and planning practices.
