Strategic Sourcing Specialist, Powertrain & Combustion Engines (Automotive)

Salary: $150,000–$170,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Develop and execute strategic and operational sourcing plans for combustion, engine, and powertrain systems.
• Source and evaluate global suppliers while building a resilient supply base for hybrid powertrain requirements.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to optimize value, quality, and delivery schedules.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance, resolve supply chain bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate cross-functional projects between engineering, manufacturing, and external suppliers.
• Build data trackers, KPIs, and dashboards from scratch to monitor commodity performance and spend.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or procurement.
• Experience in automotive, commercial vehicles, or heavy manufacturing is preferred.
• Expert-level Google Sheets and advanced Excel skills, including building complex tracking models.
• Strong knowledge of supplier management, total cost of ownership, and end-to-end procurement operations.
• Strong negotiation, project management, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, business administration, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with engines, electric drive units, or powertrain systems.
• Experience in early-stage, high-growth startups and rapidly scaling supply chains.
• Experience building supply chain processes and dashboards from 0 to 1.
• Advanced degree or APICS, CPSM, or PMP certification.
