What you will do

• Lead the architecture and implementation of MCP servers to expose internal APIs and datasets for AI applications.
• Develop and manage Apigee X API proxies, optimizing the API lifecycle, security, and performance.
• Partner with product owners to define AI integration capabilities and API exposure strategies.
• Define testing strategies for MCP server security, context retrieval accuracy, and latency optimization.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering excellence through CI/CD and automation practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues involving AI context pipelines and API gateway traffic patterns.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work in Irvine, CA (Hybrid).
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/Node.js, and Java.
• Deep understanding of MCP architecture and API transport mechanisms (HTTP, gRPC, WebSockets).
• Experience with Apigee X, OAuth, JWT, and the Google Cloud Ecosystem.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
