TL;DR
Software Engineer (API Core): Building and optimizing the API platform infrastructure for DeepL's Language AI with an accent on Developer Experience (DevEx) and API reliability. Focus on shipping high-quality features across the stack and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enable seamless integration for global developers.
Location: New York. This is a hybrid role requiring office attendance twice a week.
Salary: $144,000 – $172,000 + Equity

What you will do
- Build features that improve developer discovery, onboarding, and API usage.
- Implement reusable platform components, maintain SDKs, and create starter templates.
- Collaborate with Enterprise, Core Text, and Voice teams to deliver consistent, well-designed APIs.
- Write well-tested, production-ready code and participate in incident response and reliability improvements.
- Contribute to monitoring, alerting, and operational health of the API platform.
Requirements
- Solid backend fundamentals with experience in Go, Python, Java, or C#.
- Full-stack curiosity with the ability to contribute to React/TypeScript dashboards.
- Developer-centric mindset with a focus on clear abstractions and documentation.
- Ownership and reliability in shipping and monitoring production code.
- Experience leveraging AI-powered tools to accelerate development and reduce toil.
