Location: Must be based in the USA (specifically CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA). Not eligible for visa sponsorship; must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. Cannot hire within Chicago city limits.

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop manifest-driven extensions to enhance platform capabilities.
• Build Python-based workers for third-party integrations.
• Design and implement Java/Kotlin backend services for extensibility.
• Collaborate with AI, server, and platform teams on architecture and design.
• Troubleshoot production issues using logs, metrics, and traces.
• Participate in architecture reviews to ensure scalable, API-first software.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Java software development with solid expertise in Kotlin.
• 4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Must reside in an approved U.S. state (CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA).
• Expertise in scaling data structures, OOP design, and relational database development.
• Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python.
• Experience with caching systems, specifically Redis.
• Experience leveraging AI tooling to accelerate development.
