Electrical Designer (Engineering)

TL;DR

Electrical Designer (Engineering): Developing electrical systems for naval handling equipment from architectural concept to physical design with an accent on industrial control systems and system testability. Focus on translating high-level requirements into electrical designs, performing modeling and simulation, and managing verification testing.

Location: Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Must be Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada for greater than 5 years and pass security clearances.

Salary: 85,000 – 100,000 CAD

What you will do

• Translate high-level requirements and standards into detailed electrical design specifications.
• Develop electrical systems from architectural concepts to manufacture-ready physical designs.
• Analyze functional behavior using modeling and simulation to ensure design requirements are met.
• Develop, review, and execute electrical tests to provide evidence of requirement satisfaction.
• Manage testing at third-party houses and support system-level testing at the facility and in the field.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to optimize the functional performance of system components.

Requirements

• Recognized electrical engineering degree.
• Eligibility to obtain a P. Eng license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• 2–3 years of work experience, preferably in the electrical field.
• Canadian Citizenship or permanent residency for 5+ years.
• Ability to pass Canadian Controlled Goods and Reliability Security Clearance Checks.
• Proficiency in English with high-level verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial control systems (PLC, HMI).
• Comfort working with large equipment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for product commissioning and field testing.
