Design Engineer (Mechanical)

TL;DR

Design Engineer (Mechanical): Designing and optimizing wear products and fixed plant equipment for the mining sector with an accent on 3D modelling, reverse engineering, and manufacturability. Focus on developing detailed engineering drawings using Siemens NX and managing product lifecycles within Teamcenter PLM.

Location: Toronto, Canada. Primarily office-based with 10-20% travel to mine sites and manufacturing facilities.

Salary: CAD $80,000 – $90,000

What you will do

• Create and maintain 3D models, detailed engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Design and modify wear products and Fixed Plant equipment for mining applications.
• Perform reverse engineering activities using field measurements and 3D scan data.
• Conduct engineering analysis and design validation using simulation tools.
• Maintain engineering records, Bills of Materials, and design changes within PLM systems.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to ensure product performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or reliability engineering.
• Demonstrated proficiency using Siemens NX for 3D modelling and engineering drafting.
• Experience working with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, preferably Siemens Teamcenter.
• Experience performing reverse engineering using site measurements and/or 3D scan data.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to customer and manufacturing sites within North America.

Nice to have

• Experience with Fixed Plant mining equipment, chutes, hoppers, or wear liner design.
• Knowledge of 3D scanning technologies, FARO laser equipment, Polyworks, or Geomagic.
• Experience with ANSYS or equivalent engineering analysis software.
• Spanish or French language capability.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
